                                      About the Author

My name is Anastasia. I’m 12 years old. And today I want to tell you                                                                          about my website. On this site I will talk about fish. I chose this topic                                                                        because I really like diving, and I like to learn different types of fish. I                                                                      have been diving for 2 years so I know a lot about this topic. I have also                                                                    been researching for my IT class for over a month! I know many things                                                                    about this topic, so you can trust me. Also, feel free to look at where I got                                                                my information on my reference page.

Top 5 Dangerous Ocean Fish

list of the top five most deadly fish.

             1. Electric Eel

             2. Atlantic Mant

             3. Great White Shark

             4. Lionfish

             5. Tiger Shark

                                                   Electric Eel

Electric Eel- Despite their snake-like appearance, electric eels are not                                                                      actually eels. Their scientific classification is closer to carp and catfish.                                                                    Their bodies contain electric organs with about 6,000 specialized cells                                                                      called electrocytes that store power like tiny batteries.

When threatened or attacking prey, these cells will discharge

simultaneously, emitting a burst of at least 600 volts, five times

the power of a standard U.S. wall socket.

This fish can be dangerous to you because they can

generate electric shock to stun prey and dissuade predators.

The most interesting thing about Electric Eels is that when they attack or                                                                 electrocute someone, the eel never shocks himself.

                                               Atlantic Manta

Atlantic Manta- There are 2 species of manta rays: the reef manta (Manta                                                                alfredi) and the giant manta ray (Manta birostris). It possesses gills in the                                                              lower body, through which it obtains oxygen from water.Their diet consists                                                            basically of zooplankton. It’s distributed only in tropical, subtropical and                                                                temperate waters of the Indian, Pacific and Atlantic ocean

The largest Manta, can reaches 7 m (23 ft 0 in) and the smallest reaches

5.5 m (18 ft 1 in). Both have triangular pectoral fins, horn-shaped

cephalic fins and large, forward-facing mouths. They are classified

among the Elasmobranchii (sharks and rays)

Mantas are found in temperate, subtropical and tropical waters.

They do not represent a significant threat to humans, but may attack if                                                                    disturbed.

                                                 Great White Shark

Great White Shark- the great white shark, also known

as the great white, white pointer, white shark, or white death,

is a species of large lamniform shark which can be found in the

coastal surface waters of all the major oceans.

The scientific name for a great white shark is Carcharodon carcharias.

It can weigh between 680 – 1,100 kg. It can travel as fast as 40 km/h.

Female sharks are 4.5-5 meters long, and the males

are shorter, only 3.5-4 meters long.

This shark is known as the most dangerous in the Ocean, which is a true                                                                  fact. They look scary, are very powerful, have exceptional speed, are flexible,                                                            and are expert hunters. It is one of the oldest and most adaptable creatures                                                            on Earth.

                                                    Lion Fish

Lionfish- This is a venomous fish. It is mainly found in the the Indo-Pacific.                                                           They can also be called zebrafish, firefish, turkeyfish or butterfly-cod.

They are usually red, white, creamy, or black with a

venomous spiky fin rays. They are the most commonly studied fish

by scientists, and are popular in aquariums.

Venomous vs. Poisonous:

Lionfish are venomous, not poisonous– there is a difference. Although both                                                           venomous and poisonous animals produce a toxin that can be harmful to                                                                 other organisms, the method of delivery is different.

Venomous means that they use a specific apparatus like spines or teeth                                                                     to inject their toxin.

Poisonous fish require their victim to ingest or absorb the toxin.

Lionfish possess venomous spines that deliver toxin through stabbing their                                                            prey. On the bright side, this means that as long as you stay away from the                                                              spines, you’re good to go!

                                                          Tiger Shark

Tiger Shark- They are also known as the "Sea Tiger". They are relatively                                                                    large predator, and can be  over 5 m (16 ft 5 in) long. It is found in many                                                                  tropical and temperate waters, and it is especially common around                                                                            central Pacific islands. Its name comes from the dark stripes down its                                                                      body that looks like a tiger's pattern.

The tiger shark is a solitary (likes to be alone), mostly nocturnal (night-                                                                    time) hunter. Tiger sharks eat the most variety of prey out of all the                                                                          sharks. They eat crustaceans, fish, seals, birds, squid, turtles, and sea                                                                        snakes to dolphins and even other smaller sharks.

You can find many of them around the islands of Hawaii. They tend to                                                                     hang out around the surface of the water so they are often spotted easily.                                                               In recent years they have also been spotted around the waters of both                                                                     New Zealand and Japan.

But sometimes tiger shark can attack and even eat human.
